A 36-year-old man with no criminal history was charged with multiple offenses: two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct, Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, and Domestic Violence. A conviction would have meant a lengthy prison sentence and mandatory lifetime registration as a sex offender.
The case began when Dearborn police forcibly entered the client’s home after neighbors reported hearing a woman yelling for help. The accusations led to four serious charges.
During a two-day jury trial, Attorney Carl Jordan vigorously defended his client. After brief deliberation, the jury returned Not Guilty verdicts on three of the four charges, including both CSC counts and the Assault GBH charge. On the remaining charge—Domestic Violence—the jury found the defendant guilty, and he was sentenced to one year of probation.
