Criminal Sexual Conduct (First Degree) – MCL 750.520b – Not Guilty (Jury)
Attorney Jordan’s client was charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree after a young girl claimed he touched her one night while he was dating her mother. The accusation surfaced nearly two years after the relationship had ended, and at a time when the client was preparing to get married and start a family.
A first-degree CSC conviction carries a mandatory 25-year prison sentence, lifetime inclusion on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry, and lifetime electronic monitoring.
The case hinged almost entirely on the allegation of a single accuser. Attorney Jordan dedicated significant time to analyzing her statements and preparing a precise, strategic cross-examination. During the four-week trial, he demonstrated inconsistencies in the accuser’s story and established that her testimony was unreliable.
After deliberation, the jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty.
