Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree (3 Counts) – MCL 750.520b – Not Guilty (Jury)
Criminal Sexual Conduct – Second Degree (1 Count) – MCL 750.520c – Not Guilty (Jury)
A 31-year-old man was initially charged with nine counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct, including three counts each of first-degree, second-degree, and third-degree CSC. At the preliminary examination, Attorney Carl Jordan secured the dismissal of five charges and successfully reduced the client’s bond from $100,000 to $50,000, allowing his release on tether.
The client then faced three counts of first-degree CSC and one count of second-degree CSC. The first-degree charges involved allegations of sexual penetration with a victim under age thirteen, carrying a mandatory minimum of 25 years and potential life imprisonment. The second-degree charge involved alleged sexual contact with a person under thirteen, carrying up to 15 years of imprisonment. Both degrees required lifetime electronic monitoring upon conviction.
Attorney Jordan fought the case at trial. On the third day, after closing arguments, the jury returned Not Guilty verdicts on all remaining charges. The client’s fingerprints and arrest records were returned.
